چکیده

Background/Introduction Congenital anomalies of the aortic arch gather a wide spectrum of malformations concerning the aortic arch or some of its branches and the pulmonary artery. These malformations are rare (1 in 1000 live births) and sometimes responsible of complete (vascular ring) or partial (vascular sling) encirclement of the oesophagus, trachea or bronchi. In cases of symptomatic airways obstruction or oesophagus compression the surgical treatment is mandatory and curative. In this paper we describe the experience of Children’s Hospital of Toulouse on the surgical treatment of congenital anomalies of aortic arch.

Abnormal bisubclavian trunk arising from the aortic arch determined by cadaver dissection of a native dog: A case report

Congenital anomalies of the great thoracic vessels have been reported in 20% of dogs and cats. In some cases, the vascular ring anomalies remain unrecognized throughout the lifetime of an animal. This report describes a case with an unusual vascular ring anomaly (VRA) that was detected during dissection on a cadaver of an approximately two-year-old male native mixed breed dog. No history of the...

Stridor in a Newborn with Double Aortic Arch-A Case Report

Introduction: Double aortic arch (DAA) is a congenital anomaly of the aortic arch. It is the most common type of complete vascular ring. When it occurs, the connected segment of the aortic arch and its branches encircle the trachea and esophagus, leading to symptoms related to these two structures. Case Report: We present a case of a newborn baby who developed biphasic stridor immediately after...

Association of VACTERL with truncus arteriosus, left-sided aortic arch, hypoplastic pulmonary arteries, and severe radial axis defect

Background: VACTERL association is usually a sporadic disorder, the possible etiologies of which have been proposed as familial as well as multiple genetic and environmental factors. VACTERL association usually consists of at least three of the core features of vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheoesophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. Vertebral anomali...

Aortic Arch Anomalies: Simplified Classification

Between the years 1965 and 1970, ten patients were operated on for congenital anomalies of the aortic arch which caused symptoms of tracheoesophageal compression. The classic Edwards' diagram was modified for a more simple mterpretation of these anomalies. Accordingly, all our patients were found to belong to four distinct variations: 1) double aortic arch, which was divided in twosubgroups, a)...

Three Cases of a Rare Association: Double Aortic Arch

Background Vascular ring is less than 1% of congenital heart disease. Double aortic arch (DAA) is the most common form of it.  Its detecting is important because of the effects of pressure on the esophagus and trachea. Case Report In this study, three children suffering from double aortic arch with symptoms of dysphagia and recurrent aspiration, which in two cases had led to cardiac arrest, wer...
